The Wheatsheaf is some of the best placed accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales for anyone looking to explore the area.

GO WEST                 
Take a boat out on Lake Windermere or visit Rhegard the 3 D Imax cinema and underground craft shopping experience in Cumbria. Kendal is also worth a visit.

GO EAST
From Leyburn to Bedale you have the beautiful gardens at Constable Burton, golf at Akebar and the Arboretum and falconry centre at Thorpe Perrow. Further east to the coast, fish and chips in Whitby or Robins Hood Bay.

GO SOUTH
From Aysgarth through Bishopdale down to Kettlewell (“Calender    Girls”)and Kilnsey (Crag and Trout Farm).Past Grassington, now driving through stunning scenery in Wharfedale and on to Skipton. Here there is a market everyday, a castle and you can take a trip on a narrow boat . Further south takes you to Howarth and Bronte country.
Drive home and at Kettlewell take the country road through Coverdale and enjoy wilder scenery up on the top moors.

GO NORTH
From Redmire to Reith, Lainghwaite and on to Barnard Castle where you will find the Bowes Museum and its extensive collections or further east up the A1 towards Durham to Beamish Village where a life scale replica coal mining village complete with trams shops and steam railway has been created. This is another excellent day out.Also in Teasdale you will find High Force waterfalls. Returning to Wensleydale by way of Richmond town with its cobbled streets, historical castle and museum and picnic  on the stone hop down by the river. Good Indian Thai and Chinese too.
